The Program Director (Norman Twaddel DGK) was appointed by the Grand Knight (Michael E. Pizzo). The Surge with Service Program is made up of five (5) committees and their directors are appointed by the Program Director. The committees are as follows:
Church: Dewayn Marzagalli Director The Church Director will establish programs in the following areas: Vocations, Parish Round Table, Parochial Services, Religious Devotions, and Christ in Christmas Community: David Haverty Director The Community Director will establish programs in the following areas: Pro-Life, Volunteerism, Human Needs, Civic Involvement, Environment, Public Safety, Health Services, and Decency Council: Michael E. Pizzo Director The Council Director will establish programs in the following areas: Public Relations, Communications, Fraternalism, Cultural, Social, Blood Donors, and Athletics Family Life: Gregory Sundik Director The Family Director will establish programs in the following areas: Survivors Assistance, Memorials, Education, Communications, Family of the Month/Year, Family Project, Recreation, and Family Week Youth: Peter Rovnak Director The Youth Director will establish programs in the following areas: Columbian Squires, Youth Groups, Athletics, Educational Programs, Youth Welfare, Religious Activities, and Social Activities The committees plan, organize, and carryout activities during the fraternal year. As these activities are carried out the information pertaining to the activity is reported to the Program Director. The Program Director forwards the information to the District Deputy (Bob Delaney) in the form of a Surge Report. If the Council carries out at least four activities in each of the five (5) committees during the fraternal year, and reports them to the Supreme Council Department of Fraternal Services they will be awarded the Columbian Award.
Bishop Amedee W. Proulx Council 11257 Knights of Columbus, Portland, Maine has sent the following surge reports to the State Council for the fraternal year March 1, 2008 – February 28, 2009 and to Supreme for the fraternal year July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009
